PDF Hub — Mobile Application
1. Who we are
PDF Hub(“the App”, “we”, “us”) is a mobile application for reading, editing, annotating, signing, scanning and converting PDF and Office documents stored on your device.
Contact for all privacy matters: chepkwonyke2@gmail.com
2. The data we do NOT collect
To be explicit, the App has no user accounts and no backend servers of our own. Neither we nor our advertising partners collect, transmit, or store:
- Your documents— their contents, file names, page text, or thumbnails
- Your signatures or anything you draw, type or highlight
- Photos or camera images captured by the scanner
- Your name, email address, phone number, or contact details
- Your precise location (GPS)
- Passwords or payment information — the App has no logins and no in-app purchases
3. How your documents are handled
All document processing happens locally, using libraries bundled inside the App. No part of a document is sent over the network:
- Reading and editing: pages are rendered, and text and image edits applied, by code running on your device against the file already stored there.
- Signing and annotating: signatures, highlights, ink, comments and form entries are written back into your file when you save.
- Conversion:PDF ↔ Word, image and long-image export, merging, splitting and compression are all performed on-device.
- Scanning and text recognition:the document scanner and on-device OCR use Google’s ML Kit, whose recognition models are bundled with the App and run offline. Your camera images are not uploaded for processing.
Work-in-progress sessions
So you can close the App mid-edit and return to where you were, the App saves your reading position and any unsaved changes into its own private storage on your device. This includes a temporary copy of a scanned or converted document that you have not yet saved. It is deleted when you save or discard the document, and all of it is removed if you uninstall the App or clear its data.
4. App preferences
Small settings — your theme choice, your saved signature, the list of recently opened files, and whether you have seen the onboarding — are stored in a local preferences file on your device. They are deleted when you uninstall the App or clear its data.
5. Advertising
The App is free and is supported by advertising. Ads are delivered through Unity LevelPlaymediation, which runs an auction between demand partners — currently ironSource and Meta Audience Network. When an ad is requested, those SDKs collect and process certain data on their own behalf to select, deliver and measure ads. This may include:
- Your device’s advertising identifier (Google Advertising ID on Android / IDFA on iOS, where you have permitted tracking) and app-set ID
- Coarse technical data: device model, operating system version, language, app version, screen size, mobile network/carrier, and IP address (which implies approximate location)
- Ad interaction data: which ads were shown, viewed, and clicked
We do not receive this data ourselves; it flows from the SDKs to the respective partners, whose handling of it is described in the Unity Privacy Policy and the Meta Privacy Policy.
Advertising never sees your documents
The ad SDKs have no access to the files you open or to anything you type, draw or sign. Ads are not targeted using your documents, their contents, or their file names.
Your advertising choices
- Android:Settings → Privacy → Ads lets you delete or reset your advertising ID and opt out of ads personalisation.
- iOS:Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking lets you block apps from requesting to track; the App respects the system tracking permission.
- Where required by law (for example in the EEA and UK), you will be asked for consent before personalised ads are shown, and you can change that choice at any time.
6. Permissions the App requests
ALL FILES ACCESS (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE)
Listing and opening the documents already on your device so you can browse them in one place. Used only to read and write documents you choose. The App does not scan, index, or transmit anything elsewhere.
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 12 and below)
The equivalent of the above on older Android versions.
CAMERA (via Google Play services)
Document scanning. The camera is opened by Google's scanner component only when you start a scan, and is never used in the background.
INTERNET / NETWORK STATE
Loading ads, and opening external links you tap. No document data is ever sent over the network.
AD_ID
Access to the device advertising identifier, used by the advertising SDKs described in Section 5.
The App never requests location, contacts, microphone, or call log permissions.
7. Other third parties
Besides the advertising partners in Section 5, the App bundles Google ML Kit (document scanner and text recognition), which runs on your device. Google Play services may collect diagnostic information about the scanner component itself under Google’s Privacy Policy; the contents of your documents are not part of that.
There is no analytics provider, no crash reporting service, and no cloud storage integration.
8. Data retention and deletion
- Your documents belong to you and stay where you keep them. The App never copies them off your device.
- Everything the App itself creates — preferences, recent-file entries, saved signatures, unsaved-session data — lives only in the App’s private storage. Uninstalling the App, or clearing its data in system settings, permanently deletes it.
- Data collected by the advertising partners is retained under their own policies; use the controls in Section 5 to manage it.
9. Security
Your documents are protected by your device’s own storage protections and screen lock; the App opens no network connections for document data, so it adds no network exposure for your files. Files you deliberately share out of the App — by email, messaging or cloud apps — leave the App’s control at that point and are governed by the receiving app’s policies.
10. Children
The App is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the App in a way that raises concern, contact us and we will assist.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019, the EU/UK GDPR, or the California CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to processing of personal data. Because we do not hold your personal data ourselves, most requests are fulfilled by:
- Deleting the App’s local data (Section 8), and
- Exercising rights against Unity and Meta for advertising data (Section 5).
We are happy to help you route a request: chepkwonyke2@gmail.com.
12. International transfers
Your documents never leave your device, so they are never transferred anywhere. Advertising data processed by Unity and Meta may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, under those companies’ applicable transfer safeguards.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App evolves (for example if we add new features or change advertising partners). The “Last updated” date at the top will change, and material changes will be highlighted in the App or its store listing. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
14. Contact
We aim to respond to all enquiries within 5 business days.
